Apart from the citation in the title, replica watches truly are the new frontier of watchmaking; not expensive and almost the same as the originals, they are offering a real competition to brands like Patek Philippe, Cartier, Jaeger leCoultre, and many, many more.
There are many reasons why customers prefer a fake to an original: the most important is, without any doubt, the price; luxury and classy watches are highly expensive and definitely not affordable to the majority of the population. Besides, as I’ve stated before, replica watches are 99% perfect copies of the real ones, therefore only an expert could tell the difference.
Obviously there are many other advantages: if you ever decide to buy a fake Rolex, for example, you won’t have to constantly ponder if you should wear it for certain occasions –for example when going to a place you don’t know, where it could get easily stolen because you don’t know your surroundings.
You also won’t have to worry if a watch is not fashionable anymore; you can sell (be honest!), keep or even throw it away (not recommended though), without being desperate for the thousand of money spent.
A replica watch could also be a wonderful present -even if you don’t decide to reveal that it’s not original- and can show how classy, fashionable and elegant you are.
For example, if you were to buy a Breitling Navitimer Heritage Quartz Chronograph BT-185, it would delight you and your friends with: mineral crystal scratch-resistant glass, solid structure, innovative design and the same weight and feeling as the original; without counting its several features, such as date, chronometer, small seconds dial and 24-hours, and much more.
With all these advantages, it’s easy to understand why the Replica Watches Business is so loved.

In 2004, Lowry Park Zoo was voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the US by Child Magazine [2], and is recognized by the State of Florida as the center for Florida wildlife conservation and biodiversity (HB 457).

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoological Society, in agreement with the City of Tampa, operates Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization.

History

Tampa’s first zoo was a small collection of exotic animals in Plant Park on the grounds of the University of Tampa across the Hillsborough River from downtown.

During the middle 1950s, Mayor Nick Nuccio led the push to move the zoo to a more spacious location. Land further up the river near the neighborhood of Seminole Heights was chosen. The combination zoo and park was christened Lowry Park after General Sumter Loper Lowry, a local resident celebrated for civic contributions and his service in several wars, but vilified by some for his controversial political views.
The old rainbow bridge to Fairyland, Lowry Park Zoo, c. 1980

The new Lowry Park Zoo opened in 1957. The zoo shared the park with Fairyland, where concrete statues depicting fairy tales and nursery rhymes were along a winding maze of paths beneath the limbs of sprawling oak trees. This whimsical area was accessible via a large rainbow bridge.

As the wildlife collection grew, other attractions and rides were also added. By the early 1980s, the zoo featured a small roller coaster, a skyride, and a kid-sized train, among other kiddie rides. However, the zoo facilities were in need of repair and renovation, with the animals cramped concrete quarters so poor that the Humane Society called it “one of the worst zoos in America”.

After several years of fundraising and with the help and support of the city, the old zoo was closed in the mid-80s for a complete reconstruction in which nearly all traces of the original zoo (including Fairyland) were removed.

The revamped zoo opened in March 1988. Several additions and expansions since then have brought the zoo to its current configuration.

Exhibits
Meerkats at Lowry Park Zoo
The zoo features a larger collection of Florida species than any other zoo and includes Deer, Alligator, Flamingos, Roseate Spoonbill, Florida Panther, American Crocodile, River Otter and many other species. The zoo also features several hands-on exhibits, including Lorikeet feeding, stingray feeding, camel rides, an interactive discovery center, a petting area, a river ecotour and manatee encounters. The most recent addition to the zoo is Safari Africa, which houses African elephants, giraffe, Grant’s zebra, white rhinoceros, shoebill stork, okapi, meerkats and other African species.

One of the zoos oldest sections, the Asian Domain, was renovated and renamed the Asian Gardens in 2007. Exhibits there include Indian Rhinoceros, Sumatran Tigers, Babirusa Pig, Komodo Dragon, Clouded Leopard, Sloth Bear and an Indonesian-themed Sulawesi Aviary.

Conservation
The zoo has several Species Survival Plan projects, which includes threatened and endangered species species and species of special concern. These include Chimpanzee, Bornean Orangutan, Mandrill, Siamang, Colobus, Golden Lion Tamarin, Geoffrey’s Marmoset, Ring-tailed Lemur, Red Ruffed Lemur, Indian Rhinoceros, Sumatran Tiger, Clouded Leopard, Sloth Bear, Babirusa, Red Wolf, African Elephant, Bongo, Bali Mynah, Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Great Indian Hornbill, Palm Cockatoo, and Komodo Dragon programs.

The zoo hosts a hospital for Florida manatees in which injured animals are rehabilitated with the intent of returning them to the wild. Other notable conservation projects include Key Largo Woodrats, Florida Panthers, Whooping Cranes, Key Deer, and the Butterfly Conservation Initiative.

Rides
Starting with the Australia addition, Lowry Park Zoo has added several children’s rides, including a merry go round, “Flying Bananas”, pony and camel rides, a mini-roller coaster, and a skyride.

Gator Falls, which opened in June 2008, is a log flume ride. It is the largest and most expensive ride in the zoo to date, costing US$1.5 million to build. The ride features a single 30-foot (9.1 m) drop, and the track carries riders over the park’s albino alligator exhibit.[7] According to zookeepers, the alligators are two of only 38 known white gators in the world. The ride also offers education about the genetic mutation that causes albino alligators.

Tiger escape
In 2006, one of the zoo’s two Sumatran tigers, a 14-year-old female named Enshala, slipped through an unlocked gate and into an area undergoing renovation. The zoo director, Lex Salisbury, defended his decision to shoot and kill the animal after attempts to tranquilize the tiger failed and the animal lurched towards the animal doctor that had shot the tranquilizer dart.

Later in 2006, a group known as “Tampa’s Zoo Advocates” formed. The organization seeks to improve the living conditions of the animals as well as working conditions of the employees of Lowry Park Zoo.
[edit] Salisbury scandal

In April 2008, 15 patas monkeys escaped from Safari Wild, a for-profit animal attraction under development east of Tampa in rural Polk CountyThis brought media attention to the venture, which is owned and operated by long-time Lowry Park Zoo director Lex Salisbury.

Subsequent investigations revealed many questionable transactions between Safari Wild and Lowry Park Zoo, including the transfer of over 200 zoo animals to Safari Wild, zoo funds being used to build structures on Safari Wild property, and payments from the zoo to “board” animals at Safari Wild. The city of Tampa, which provides a portion of the zoo’s annual budget, demanded an audit detailing the relationship between Lowry Park, Salisbury, and his outside business ventures.

The audit was released in December 2008 and disclosed many questionable dealing between the zoo and Safari Wild. It also uncovered violations of zoo policies by Salisbury, including increasing his own bonus payments, charging the zoo for personal travel, and using zoo employess for his personal work. Auditors estimated that Salisbury owed the zoo more that $200,000 and suggested a criminal investigation.[15][16][17] On December 19, 2008, Salisbury, under pressure from the zoo’s board of directors and the city of Tampa, resigned from his position at the zoo.

As a result of possible violations of animal transfer rules and species survival plans, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums suspended the membership of Lowry Park Zoo and of Larry Killmar, the zoo’s Director of Collections who had authorized many of Salisbury’s questionable animal transfers. Under Killmar, the zoo reorganized its internal policies over several months, and on March 27, 2009, the AZA reinstated the membership of both Lowry Park Zoo and its director of collections.

This airport is publicly owned by Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. It serves the Tampa Bay Area and has been widely praised for its attractive architecture and Landside/Airside design of a central terminal (”landside”) connected by people movers to satellite airline gates (”airsides”), a pioneering concept when initially designed in the late 1960s. The airport was known as Drew Field Municipal Airport until 1952.

Tampa International Airport currently serves as a main hub for Gulfstream International Airlines under the Continental Connection name. It is also a focus city for Southwest Airlines. The airport presently serves 68 non-stop destinations, including international service to the United Kingdom, Canada, and to destinations throughout the Caribbean. The airport handled 18,262,934 passengers in 2008, making it the 27th busiest airport by passenger movements in North America.

History
Tampa Bay was the birthplace of commercial airline service, when pioneer aviator Tony Jannus flew the inaugural flight of the St Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line on January 1, 1914, from St. Petersburg, Florida, to Tampa using a Benoist Flying Boat — the first scheduled commercial airline flight in the world using a heavier-than-air airplane.

Drew Field
Postcard from Drew Field

In 1928 the city completed the 160-acre (0.65 km2) Drew Field six miles (10 km) west of Downtown Tampa. The more popular Peter O. Knight Airport was opened on Davis Island near Downtown Tampa in 1935, where both Eastern and National Airlines operated until 1946.

The United States Army Air Force took over Drew Field during World War II and expanded and modernized the airport. The airfield was used by Third Air Force and renamed it Drew Army Airfield. Third Air Force used it as a training center by 120,000 combat air crews and flew antisubmarine patrols from the airfield. There was one accident in 1943 that killed five fliers. Despite this, Drew Field set a safety record for the Third Air Force in 1945 after 100,000 flying hours had been completed over a period of 10 months without a fatal incident. The aircraft operated included the B-17, C-47, AT-6, B-25, and others.
[edit] Tampa International Airport

After the hostilities, Eastern and National Airlines moved to Drew Field. The reason for the relocation was that the Peter O. Knight Airport was too small to handle the new Douglas DC-4, DC-6 and Lockheed Constellation prop-liners that were being placed into service. During this period the airlines were housed in the former Base Operations Building which was converted into a terminal.

Trans Canada Airlines inaugurated international flights in 1950 and Drew Field was renamed Tampa International Airport. The airport’s second terminal opened in 1952 near the intersection of Columbus Drive and West Shore Blvd. The building, which was built for three airlines, was soon swamped. The Civil Aeronautics Board granted Capital, Delta, Northeast, Northwest and Trans World Airlines authority to fly to Tampa during the late 1950s and as a result created havoc at the undersized terminal. An annex was built east of the terminal to accommodate the new carriers.

Jet-powered operations began in 1959 when Eastern Air Lines introduced the Lockheed L-188 Electra. The following year National Airlines began turbojet service with the Douglas DC-8 jetliner. Flights to Mexico City began in 1961 with weekly service by Pan American.

Congestion became a serious problem at the 1952 Terminal when the airlines began to replace their piston powered equipment with larger jetliners. As a temporary measure the terminal was once again expanded to handle the growth in traffic.

Tampa’s Busch Gardens is one of those places you can visit and revisit and always find something new. My family’s visit this summer included two new sights: the baby rhino that hid behind its parents as they kept a wary eye on our safari truck, and the fabulous new four-acre Jungala attraction at the amusement park and zoo.

Jungala Favorites

Jungala, built to serve 7- to 14-year-olds, has all the requisite Busch Gardens features—amazing animals, cool rides and interactive areas. My favorite: the tiger tug-of-war. With 10 or more kids and adults lined up on one side of the glass enclosure, and one tiger eagerly anticipating a treat on the other, it was no contest to see who would win this tug of war. The tiger used one huge paw and massive teeth to get a good grip on the heavy rope, gave one good yank and it was all over, leaving the humans giggling and the tiger munching on one very large hunk o’ meat.

The hands-down kid favorite of Jungala is Tree Top Trails, a three-story climbing structure modeled after a popular feature at the Chicago Children’s Museum. It’s big enough for adults who need to keep a close eye on little ones but safe enough for most kids to scale alone.

For the more adventurous kids, there’s the Jungle Flyers zip line. I was looking forward to a ride until I learned it’s open only to kids ages 6 to 13.

Safaris, Rapids and Roller Coasters

That meant I was left to fall back on my Busch Garden favorite: a Serengeti Safari jeep tour. For an extra fee ($33.99 per person), you can climb aboard the back of an open jeep (be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen—there is no relief from the hot Florida sun) and drive though an open animal habitat. The gentle giraffes will approach and stick out their long tongues to take a leaf of lettuce right from your hand. The other animals, including the rhino family, are warier and will watch but not approach as the humans drive by.

When you leave the safari, visitors 42 inches and taller can rinse off the dust and sweat with a trip down the Congo River Rapids. Then dry off with a ride on SkeiKra, which was the nation’s first dive coaster when it opened in 2005. This is the coolest, smoothest coaster I have ever ridden—it may send you down two 90-degree drops and shoot you through tunnels and around loops at 70 miles per hour, but it does it so smoothly that I came off the ride exhilarated rather than shaken.

TBPAC is downtown on a nine-acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River. As the largest performing arts complex south of the Kennedy Center, the 335,000 square-foot TBPAC provides an environment for a variety of events. It has a leading Broadway series and produces grand opera, as well as presenting a variety of concerts, performances and events. 680,000 patrons attended 4,148 events in TBPAC’s 2007-2008 season.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal says that “Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center’s Carol Morsani Hall ranks with the best theater venues in the world.”

In 2009, they will officially begin their new program entitled the “Broadway Genesis Project,” which intends to begin musicals to have their world premiere and Broadway try-outs in Tampa using their facilities and stage. The first show that will be under this title is Frank Wildhorn’s newest musical, Wonderland: Alice’s New Musical Adventure, which will open officially on December 5, following previews from November 24.

Venues and facilities
The performing arts complex (TBPAC) consists of five distinct theaters, a rehearsal hall, retail shops, on-site restaurants and banquet facilities.

The five individual theaters at TBPAC are Carol Morsani Hall (2,600+ seats), Ferguson Hall (1,042 seats), the Jaeb Theater (292 seats), the TECO Energy Foundation Theater (250 seats and the Shimberg Playhouse (130 seats).

With the Patel Conservatory, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center has added 45,000 square feet (4,200 m2) for its extensive education programs. The Conservatory features 20 studios, including two dance studios with sprung floors, a sound/lighting laboratory, technical theater workshop, rehearsal hall, costume shop, isolation/sound booth, state-of-the-art black box theater and media arts/TV studio. During 2007/2008 the Conservatory served nearly 60,000 students with 2,948 classes, workshops and performances.

Carol Morsani Hall
The centerpiece of the complex which seats over 2,600. The hall’s proscenium is 60 feet (18 m) high with a playing depth of 55 feet (17 m) and a total stage width of 120 feet (37 m). When combined with an 11-story high backstage area, the enormous Carol Morsani Hall onstage and backstage areas easily accommodate major productions of Broadway musicals, presentations by Opera Tampa, ballets and orchestral concerts. A 42-ton concert wall can be lowered for the orchestra and choral performances. The traditional horseshoe-shaped opera house has continental seating on four levels: orchestra, mezzanine, balcony and gallery. Excellent sight lines combine with acoustics.

Ferguson Hall
Suited for plays, musical concerts and dance events, the elegant 1,042-seat Louise Lykes Ferguson Hall boasts comfortable orchestra seating and two tiers of curving balconies, creating a unique blend of intimacy and spaciousness. With a 40-foot (12 m) wide by 30-foot (9.1 m) high proscenium, a total playing depth of 50 feet (15 m) and a total stage width of 80 feet (24 m), plus orchestra pit and concert wall, the Ferguson Hall offers flexibility that also suits corporate meetings, lectures and seminars.

Jaeb Theater
The 292-seat Robert and Lorena Jaeb Theater is named for the Jaebs, whose gift to the Capitol Fund Drive in 1985 helped establish the endowment fund for the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. The Jaeb Theater’s stage is 40 feet (12 m) wide by 20 feet (6.1 m) deep. The audience area can be configured to stadium or cabaret seating for plays or cabaret shows, as well as recording sessions, television productions, seminars and business meetings.

TECO Energy Foundation Theater
The 3,500-square-foot (330 m2) TECO Energy Foundation Theater dominates the west end of the first floor of the Patel Conservatory. The room is two stories of open space with glass walls and windows on two sides. Blackout curtains convert the rehearsal space into a performance space. There is no permanent stage and all furnishings are portable for flexibility.

Shimberg Playhouse
The 130-seat Hinks and Elaine Shimberg Playhouse, located between The Center Store and the Jaeb Theater, is an intimate venue for local and national artists, such as poets, musicians, dancers, comedians, performance artists and companies such as resident theater company Jobsite Theater. This specially-designed, flexible “black-box” theater allows for varied configurations of traditional or three quarter seating, as required by the production.

Events, resident companies, and constituents
TBPAC’s annual events include the Broadway Ball, Best of Tampa Bay, Eggstravaganza and a facility-wide Open House in the fall. TBPAC is also the annual host of the Broadway Theater Project and International Thespian Society’s Florida State Thespian Festival.
